Hello,
who is this LW-Ritterkreuzträger?
On the picture was written:
"Ein Herr vom LW-Stab, 1940/41 Frankreich"
Is it Wilhelm Knapp?

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
The photo on 55.03 and 32.01 are of Von Tiesenhausen. When he returned to Salamis on December 3, 1941, the crew thought he would immediately be approved for the KC and they made a Knights Cross for him that you see in some photos. There was a delay however, and he was not approved for the award until Jan 27, 1942, two months after he sank the battleship. He did not actually receive the KC until Feb 28, 1942 because he was at sea. He arrived at La Spezia on 2-28-1942

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Hello,
can anbody show us the Germania-Werft card showing von Tiesenhausen after his KC award? I am pretty sure, then the discussion will be finished. In my eyes von Tiesenhausen received the KC after the return I show. He is wearing the same uniform he is wearing on the photograph showing the board made KC! Interesting discussion I must say!
Kind regards

Hello,
me again. I actually talked to Manfred Dörr. He said that von Tiesenhausen received the KC twice. Once from Frauenheim and a second time from admiral Kreisch. He will take a look at the photograph and call me tomorrow.
A bientot mes amis!

I add a rare Reinhard Suhren pic for a good night!

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
thanks docarchiv for sharing this great picture.
this "size of photo" would be fine for all your unknown RKT pictures as well
its easier to identfy if you see all the details
and...... if its possible for you ..please use different JPG names....( A1 A2 A3....) this
would as well be very helpful to find pictures and identifications together

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Does this contribute to the Tiesenhausen debate? It was offered for sale on http://www.epier.com about a year ago and has not been identified since, despite requests on different forums. It looks like the same man on the same occasion. Perhaps it will make identification easier (or more certain)

Hello my friend,
so I am right, this is not von Tiesenhausen. Compare the noses! If the photograph still is for sale, please tell me, where I can find it!
Kind regards!

Hello,
I think it is Wilhelm Franken or Heydemann! Any agreement? It is difficult!
Kind regards!
