Who was the RKT. Caption said it was late August 43. Looks like his right ear was blown off! Who was the general (likely as it was a RK award). Caption said General Doff -- they didn't even try!

Cheers

Not that you can see the RK. But 5 SSPzRgt Kdr must be a RKT. Could it be Fritz Darges? Caption said Autumn 44 near Warsaw.

Freiherr, the picture with the SS panzer commander was discussed on the missing-lynx.com forum a while ago - unfortunately it didn't come with the answer but did offer some additional info - like for example this officer was a Hauptsturmführer (most probably Wiking also possible Totenkopf). Hope someone can ID him.

Hi, Freiherr.

I think The RK from the second picture is:

Major Gen. Von Hunersdorff Kdr of 6th Pz Division

Can anybody have an idea what kind of Panzer this is ? A Panther ? Knowing the tank would be helpful.
The marking (K01 ?) should also help. What does that mean. I am familiar with the usual numbering (eg 331) but not with this one. As Freiherr said, does it mean the tank devoted to the kommandeur of a Panzer Rgt ?
Withou any more element, Darges might be a good point.

Hi Freiherr
Would you have any pic to post to see Laukat. I have looked at 2 different Löwe's photos and I found both very close of the pic posted by Fangio.

Regarding the unknown RKT shaking hands with a WH general : he seemingly wears a strange uniform : this latter one does not bear any eagle chest, no shoulder straps nor collar patches.
Might it be a paramilitary uniform ??

Hi Freiherr!
No I'm confused. :? :) :)
As Denis, I would like to see a picture of Laukat, and if the picture I posted is not of Löwe, could anybody post a pic of him?
Best regards,

FANGIO

Here's the one picture of Löwe. I think I saw what you posted was identified as Löwe from some French website. You can see they are not the same person.

Defintely a Pather. (a) Only two types of tanks had that kind of copula support: tigers and panthers, and you can see the turret is angular. Both the Tiger I and II have distinctive turret shapes. But this is the panther without a doubt. (b) You don't see this kind of zimmerit for tigers. Only for panthers.

I know it doesn't look like Darges -- he seemed to be blonde and skinnier. But there was one pic and I will post it when I find it which is closer.

Cheers
Freiherr

Hi Freiherr!
I guess you were right, but who could be the man identified as Löwe in the pic I posted?
Best regards,

My pic is Löwe -- it comes from Christian Federl's "Die Ritterkreuzträger der Deutsche Panzerdivisionen" and I have found it to be totally accurate so far. I had your pic down as Löwe too initially from, I think, a French website that talked about 23rd Pz quite a bit. But I noticed the difference and subsequently found one caption that said your pic is Laukat. I will keep an eye out. Fortunately 4Pz was probably the most well photographed and documented Pz Div.

Cheers
Freiherr
