LSSAH/Sepp Dietrich's Funeral

#1

Post by c.g. » 15 Dec 2003, 12:43

I have "inherited" from a friend the pictures of her grandfather who was an Oberscharführer in the LSSAH. In this bunch of photoraphs are some taken at Sepp Dietrich's funeral.
I am wondering if anyone could help me to identify the officers in the pictures.
Thanks
C.G.

I believe that is what Phil Nix said in his post above.

Interesting that they decided to use a Heer helmet to place on Sepp's casket instead of a more appropriate SS example. I suppose that a large prominent SS runes and Party shield were not favourably looked upon even back in 1966.

Sepp Dietrich funeral

Post by steve248 » 11 Aug 2005, 22:27

Are you sure the guy holding the cushion with Sepp's medals is Macher - and not
Werner Grothmann?

I was taken to Sepp's grave about 10 years ago when visiting the area, still
had fresh flowers and wreaths.

In Ludwigsburg, at the top of the hill on the western side of the main drag the
old LSSAH barracks are now government offices and apartments, painted a
rich sandstone yellow.
