Thanks guys. Something I noticed in the picture on another topic...Hitler appears to be balding and hides it with his "Donald Trump" combover. Between his combover and wearing a hat, he hid it very well. I've seen pictures of Hitler since I was a kid and never noticed he was that bald until seeing this photo. Did he wear a toupe or hairpiece of any sort? Thanks. Hexar

Hexar:

It is an illusion you are seeing as the photo is showing glare. Hitler was not balding.

Michael:

The two unidentified are Max Sasselmann behind Goering and other next to Rosenberg is Arno Schickdanz.

Does Patzwalls book include the number of women who were awarded the Blood Order?

Hello!
On this page: http://www.andreas-thies.de/pdf/05_03/2 ... lungen.pdf
there is a picture of the award doccument (Blutorden) for a "Albin Schober".
The medal itself has the number "3323", and it was awarded 31 august 1940.
Have no idea who Schober was.

Hitler always wore the full medal on the annual ceremonies each year from 1934-1938. In 1939 he started wearing just the ribbon itself in his double breasted jacket buttonhole. During the war he attended the annual ceremony each November 8 up to 1943 to deliver his speech but never attended the wreath laying ceremony on the 9th. The 1944 ceremonies he was represented by Himmler.

Hi brankov!

I've been informed that Göring - as well as Hitler - both received the Blutorden "outside numbers" - that is, without number.

Sister Pia, BO # 25 was the only woman awarded a 1st pattern Blood Order.

In all historical research a certain amount of scepticism arises when reading interrogation reports. What people say about others, only two years before.

I am looking at a British interrogation report of a SS-Hauptscharführer who had served with Gestapo Vienna and then with BdS Italien. He was captured in Italy on 29 April 1945 and the interrogation report issued on 4 June 1945.

He mentions a SS-Obersturmführer Kriminalkommissar Hans Becher of Gestapo Vienna who he had last seen in Vienna in Sept 1943. He gives Becher's age as 33 years old - so born either 1910 (from 1943) or 1912 (from 1945).

Scepticism begins when Becher described as a "Blutordensträger"

I suppose he could have been one of the Austrians who received the Blood Order after the "Anschluss". He'd be at least 26 by then.

Just a suggestion ...

Reason: Sturmabteilung - and surely not "Strumabtleiung"

I think that the youngest to be awarded a 1st pattern BO was 15 at the time of the Putsch. Max Sollmann was 17 when he participated in the Putsch and was awarded BO # 1503.

It's interesting to note that Rossbach himself never received the BO.
