Hi there,

SS-1105 appears to be either a Wanderer W11 or a Mercedes-Benz 320 WK (Wehrmachts-Kuebelwagen), and with this number should be part of the LAH. The LAH was near Amiens around the 5th June 1940, waiting to be committed to the attack on France, but was sent through Peronne on the 6th.

Maybe a scan of the name on the back may give us an exact location if you're not sure about Amiens. Were there other LAH photos in the collection?

Cheers
Steve

Hi there, I would be thankful for any information I can get about that numberplate, seems to be from the Totenkopf SS; I can really see if the next symbol after the 4 is a 1 or just a / ...or if anything like that exists...!?

thanks in advance, tom

I know this is old thread but questions should be answered ;)

It's certainly SS-41224, look on photo below.

PS. Does anyone knows such thread or website with database of Wehrmacht license plates?

I have a large list of SS plate numbers taken from photographs and original documents. It runs about 30 pages and is available to any that want to have it. Just send me a PM with your e-mail and I will send it to you.

I have also been working on Heer, Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine and a list for other plates found on German military vehicles. They are all pretty short at the moment, except the Heer list which runs about 25 pages. They are also available.

You can assume it is from the 3SS PzDiv as the sleevebands are from that unit.

I too hope to Identify an SS unit by a number plate, shots from eBay, unfortunately it seems to be printed on that wretched sandpaper textured paper. I make the number SS 2951 it was with a lorry SS 2859 and a motorbike SS 2841 and had just stopped at the remarkably empty looking French frontier post.

I'd really appreciate any help you can give with this.
