I recently read an account (the from "where" escapes me at the moment) which reflected that Hitler ordered the remains of Hindenburg and his wife to be taken to Königsberg. In late January 1945, the coffins were placed aboard the cruiser Emden with full honors and draped in the flags of various regiments that fought at Tannenberg. The coffins were then transferred to another vessel at sea and they returned to land at Stettin.
Can anyone fill in the rest of the story between Stettin and Marburg?

Yes, the hall on the picture is described as the Fahnenturm - the regimental colours of regiments participating in the battle should be displayed there.
