Here's a pic (part of it) of Akira Takiguchi where it shows Obst Schmidt (no last name was given). I can see his wearing the Blutorden.
Could anynone ID this RKT, I mean there are a lot of 'Schmidts'.
Best regards.

Hallo Fangio,

I'm not shure, but I think it's
Dipl.-Ing. Johannes Schmidt,
Kdr. I. / Pz.Rgt. 27 (19. PD), GCG 14.02.1942, KC 15.10.1942

I found a holder of the oakleaves with the Blutorden:
Johannes Block (see pic).
He was “kommandiert zum II. Lehrgang an der Infanterie-Schule München“ (21.09. - 30.11.1923)

Though we try to find holders of the “Blutorden” and the Knights Cross there are famous other generals “only” with the Blutorden, for example:

Paul Reinhold Hermann (“only” German Cross in Gold and the großes Bundesverdienstkreuz), Generalmajor (Wehrmacht / Heer), and also promoted to the next range (two stars) as Generalmajor with the Bundeswehr, I show both pics.

General der Flieger Werner Kreipe (“only” German Cross in Gold), who was Chef des Generalstabs der Luftwaffe in autumn 1944. (Why he received the Blutorden ??!)

Generalmajor Walther Brehmer (Why he received the Blutorden ??!), who ordered the occupation of the SS- and SD-barracks in Paris on the late evening of 20.07.1944.

I also had to add the pic of an unknown officer with the Blutorden. Who is this man.

Cheers
Oberstab

Hi Oberstab!
I tried to find a Dipl-Ing Johannes Schmidt in http://www.das-ritterkreuz.de but I couldn't find it. If somebody could post a pic of the Schmidt your talking about it would be of great help.
By the way, nice pis of Block and Hermann.
Regards.

Oberstab & FANGIO,

Excellent information and superb photos! I never knew Kreipe had the Blood Order.

Well, hardly a “famous” Blood Order holder, but for gee whiz here’s an interesting photo of an Unteroffizier acting as “der Spiess.” I wonder who he was.

Best regards,
Shawn

And another of Göring in SA uniform...interesting method of suspending the Blood Order from his pocket flap. Although slightly off topic, here's one of Himmler wearing his Blood Order in full regulation manner.

Best regards,
Shawn

Dear Oberstab,

I think you are right. It was Johannes Schmidt. There seems to be the blood order on his breast pocket. The RK was obviously photographically added. But the facial features seem to be very similar especially the nose.

Cheers

From Dieter:
your holder of the Blutorden is an Oberstleutnant, but not the Generalleutnant (01.07.1944) Josef "Beppo" Schmid.
From Shawn:
You are quite right: the Blood Order holder’s rank would exclude this being “Beppo” Schmid. The original photo caption (from The HG Panzer Division by Alfred Otte) states this is division commander Paul Conrath (on left) inspecting the reestablished Flak-Regiment at the Flak range Deep in March 1943. I wonder who this Blood Order holder is.
Hello! I recently purchased Franz Kurowski’s The History of Fallschirm-Panzerkorps “Hermann Göring”, Soldiers of the Reichsmarshall. The author identifies the Blood Order holder as Oberstleutnant Heydemeier. Does anyone have additional information on this officer? Thanks for any assistance!

Best regards,
Shawn
