Do you have a list of Czech Legion officers who went on to become Generals in the post-WWI Czechoslovak Army? I know the Group commanders you listed (Čeček. Vojcechovskij and Gajda) all became Generals, but who else did?
You may find this site helpful:

URL: http://forum.valka.cz/index.php

Do check the sections "Czechoslovakia" and "Austro-Hungary". There you will find biographies of several Legion Officers and Men who were to become later after the war generals in the new Czechoslovakian Army (Čatloš, Gajda, Čeček, Viest, Štefanik, Eminger, Moravec and others....)

little correction -

general of army Josef ŠNEJDÁREK was not a Legion officer. He was Czech, but since 1899 he served in Légon étrangére (French Foreign Legion). He participated in formation of Czechoslovak Legion in France, but as a french officer. He was born in Czech, but he was a French citizen. He became Czechoslovak citizen in 1927.

Hi Jirka,

Just a couple of follow-up questions to your posting:

1. Is the General Jan Votruba that you mention a different and separate officer from Armádní generál Josef Votruba, 4th Army commander?

2. Do you have any further information (date of birth, death, commands) about General Václav CHMELAŘ? I did not have him in my list of Generals.

Thanks in advance, and best wishes,

AJK

1 - Yes, there is an essay from 1936 Div.gen. v.v. Jan Votruba: Battle of Tisovec.
It is about fights of IV. brigade in 1919. Col.(in 1919) Votruba was commander of IV. Bgd.
v.v. means "retirement" -> Jan Votruba was general of division in 1936, but he was not in army.
2 - No, but I can try to find out some info.
--------------------------------------------------
equivalent of general of division was general chief of service (medical service, justice,...)
