Re: Bunker equipment
The 24 Volt Umschalter (24 V Switch) was used to switch to a spare 24 V Battery in case of a malfunction of the regular 24 V power line.
In the B-Werk we puzzled over the inscription "KB Umschalter" (KB Switch) in our 90P9 observing turret. Down to the present date we thought it may have something to do with a "Kommandogerät", which the used for communication between the command level and the weapons. But there were not enough wires to operate such a device.
Today we found the instruction auf 24 Volt Umschalter posted by jopaerya and this led us to the most useful clarification of unknown devices used in the B-Werk for years!
Indeed, live Malcom said, it has something to do with the 24 V lightning in the weapon rooms, but it was also used in observation rooms.
Not only the emergency lightning but also the reticle illumination for all kinds of optics used 24 V lightning. So if there was any failure in the regular 24 Volt System (in the B-Werk transformed in the engine room) there was no chance to fight or to observe, especially at night. So, to have a duplication the 24 Volt Switch was installed in observation and combat rooms (in our B-Werk: 2 in the left 20P7, 1 in the right 20P7, 1 in the observation turret). The 24 Volt Umschalter allowed the crew to take a spare 24 V Battery (24 V Sammler), connect it to the 24 V Umschalter and switch from the 24 V System to the 24 V Battery. So, our inscripition "KB Umschalter" means "Kampfraumbeleuchtung Umschalter" (=combat room lightning switch).
So, because we want to remanufacture three 24 Volt Umschalter I ask you for any photos of this thing or an instruction in higher resolution.
Thank you
