Out of recent movies that I've seen I was mostly impressed with Keneth Branagh as R.Hydrych in conspiracy, the Nazi officer from "Captain Corelli's Mandolin" (dont know the name, but he is british), who else is good at it?

I liked Ed Harris in Enemy at the Gates. He looked great in the uniform.

I'm not sure if this man was German or not but-
He was the Geramn tank commander in Battle of the Bulge. I remember him looking at the American cake.

I like almost all of them, Kenneth Branagh,Ed Harris,James Coburn.

Jon Voight was O.K. playing Jurgen Stroop in Uprising.

Ed Harris played an SS officer spy in an old movie "red crystal" or something like that.

I think Ed Harris takes the cake.

James Coburn is a good actor in Cross of Iron, but he's played some very pathetic roles as allies in other movies, so I don't think he's a good choice.

David Werner is a good actor as well, he played Himmler's personal assistant in "Hitler's SS" and Captain Kiesel in "Cross of Iron".

Robert Shaw and Jon Voight I think.

Kenneth Branagh looks alittle too English/Irish and Ed harris doesnt fit that discription too much for me but is probably 3rd or 4th on the list.

To me the Brittish are the best non-Germans that play the best Germans or Nazis

Don´t forget Kenneth Colley like Adolf Eichmann in "Wallenberg"

like a Hauptsturmführer Hirsch in "Escarlet and the Black" (1983) and in the same film Christopher Plummer like Obersturmbannführer Herbert Kappler

Ralph Fiennes was born in England. Did a pretty good job in Schindlers List as the Camp Commendant.

In my opinion...
#1-Michael Byrne (Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade)
#2-Ed Harris
#3-Robert Shaw
#4-James Coburn

Now, the question comes... who played the most unconvincing Nazi?
#1-Charlie Chaplin (The Great Dictator)
#2-John Banner (Schultz-Hogan's Heroes)
#3-Richard Burton

Sorry to rain on your parade about Schultz but....

Biography for
John Banner

Banner is best remembered for his portrayal of the Luftwaffe prison- camp guard Sergeant Schultz in the TV series "Hogan's Heroes" (1965). But there remains a certain irony: John Banner was Jewish.

Another bit of irony, besides John Banner being Jewish and playing a guard in a POW camp... is that like his co-star on Hogan's Heroes, Robert Clary.... John Banner was in a concentration camp prior to his release and travel out of Nazi Occupied Germany (in the early part of the Nazi control of Germany, a trip to a concentration camp was not an automatic "death sentence"). So John Banner was lucky to leave just before the Nazi policies changed.

Passed away in his native Vienna on his 63rd birthday.

and i don't think he was all that bad...in fact i really like his character.
