Just new to this forum and surprised that no one mentioned "It Happened Here", film made in the 50's by Andrew Millo and Kevin Brownlow in the UK (mentioned elsewhere in the forum). The prenise of the film is that the invasion of England was successful.

Excellent film with all original equipment, uniforms and vehicles including JadgPanther, kubelwagons, schwimwagons and varios motorcycle combinations plus trucks (Blitz's etc). In the start they re-create a Deutsche Wochenschau on the occupation of the UK and the JadgPanther figures prominantly.

They wrote a book about the making of the film called "How it happened here" and there was an article in an issue of "After the Battle". If anyone is interested in what the equipment situations for German items was like in Europe it is a great read as they trawled through France and Germany for original uniforms and accoutrements.

Czechoslovak movie "Tank Brigade" (1955) featured a shitload of T-34/85s, but also at least three Pz IV runners, StuGs, Kübel- & Schwimmwagen, etc.

The new norwegian movie " Max Manus" features a selection of original german vehicles, albeit glimpsed briefly, and not in action. There's a vw Kübel, Schwimmwagen, Kettenkrad, all in dark yellow. There is also a Stug III, in dark green. presumably borrowed from the Finns for this movie. What surprised me the most was the presence, for a few frames, of an ex-french light tank 8O . I dont know much about the french tanks, but I recognised the overall shape, the suspension, and the late long barreled 37 mm gun.

In the 1969 spaghetti desert war movie The Battle of El Alamein (original title: La battaglia di El Alamein, rather stupid german title "Königstiger vor El Alamein") there are of course no Königstigers but some authentic or at least authentic looking italian Semovente Assault guns.

On the other hand we see in this movie the usual postwar M48s (must be the Königstigers) and M2 Half Tracks acting as german tanks and best off all - M113 APCs in the role of british Universal Carriers.

I would like to know more about the Tigers used in the film 'Night of the Generals'. As they are only shown for a very brief period in the movie I would have taken them to be the real thing, filmed in Poland as I believe, as in the fifties/sixties, making a mock-up wasn't bothered with as a lick of paint and a few insignia would suffice; 'Battle of the Bulge', 'Patton' etc. I think the movie that really got ruined by this was the brilliant 1956 movie 'Attack' where a 'Tiger' (painted Stuart tank!!) runs over Jack Palance.
Yes, it is funny where lower budget films sometime pay more attention to accuracy than larger budget movies. Although today they are getting better. They still do mistakes though. A few I noticed watching the series 'Pacific' really do stand out.
I have just seen the excellent Italian film 'El Alamein, The Line of Fire' which had alot of Italian(?) vehicles in. -It also made me realise how very few films have been made from the Italian perspective seen as they had such a large role in WWII.

Very interesting thread. It always bothered me when American tanks posed as German. Seeing M113s in a WWII film is hilarious!

The funny thing is that most Greek movies set in WWII had actual Kubelwagens, and not 60s or 70s cars (the time when most of these movies were made). Maybe the Germans left some of their equipment here. However, there must have been at least one instance where Germans are seen driving an American Jeep (!)

Usually I prefer seeing fake Tigers made from custom work on Russian tanks than Pattons posing as Tigers. If its overall form looks a bit like a Tiger, it's enough.

Hi. I recently collected screenshots from multiple movies. None of them has an "original" German vehicle, however its still interesting. Also, in more recent movies incredibly accurate replicas have begun to appear (Check out the Panzer IVs from "Stalingrad 2013")

The Tiger I tanks in Kelly's Heroes are not original/real. They are T-34s disguised as Tigers. They are good copies but not even close to the original….

Same thing goes for the Tiger I in Saving Private Ryan....

and....the Battle for Moscow

Yes I see my mistake....it was a list of copies......lol, I did not see the original post.
