The Second Majdanek Trial ...

Post by Schmauser » 28 Aug 2002 00:18

I have a very pitiful ... 1 defendent out of 95 from this trial, and I don't even know when she was executed :? Else Ehrich is the only defendent i've got. So I'm looking for the other 94, and dates that the trial started and finished, please :D

Hi Schmauser

Never heard of a 2nd Majdanek Trial, let alone one with 95 defendants.

However, I know the Poles don't make war crimes trials easy to research so you might be on to something.

I do know there were many more KZ staff convicted for crimes in Lublin and Warsaw than we can find out about in conventional archives.

If it helps, Else Erlich was convicted in July 1948. I would guess her trial wouldn't have lasted long as she confessed to her crimes.

What leads have you got?

Hi Researcher,

the trial did take a long time ... it started in 1946!

Thanks for the date on Ehrich's conviction. I found this quote from several sites ...
Only some of the 1,300 staff members were put to trial after the war. From 1946 to 1948 in Lublin, 95 SS men who worked at Majdanek were put to trial. Seven of them were sentenced to death and the rest of them were sentenced to long-terms in prison.
Since thats 7 death sentences, perhaps Ron might know who they were since he is researching only those sentenced to death?
