From memory, Gheorghe Budu also knocked out two BT-7s near Chisinau in July 1941, but then he was commander of the 1st Tank Regiment's AAA Battery equipped with 37 mm Rheinmetall guns. His battery also claimed several aircraft shot down during the 1941 campaign.carius wrote:Lt. Gheorghe Budu,1st romanian armored division - 2 T-34,6 anti-tank guns,? mortars (20.11.1942)

Re: High Scorers with Panzers and Paks
Gefreiter Hildebrandt (Pz.Rgt.15) in his Pz-II lead a tank attack which knocked out 6 Polish guns (heavy battery + light platoon) in Ćwiklice on 02.09.1939. Guns were encircled by group of tanks and attacked from 3 sides. Crews of guns were either killed or captured and guns were either hit by missiles or later squashed. Commander of heavy battery was wounded. Some Poles managed to withdraw. The other ones hid in the cellar of a nearby house and later surrendered. Wounded commander of heavy battery was hidden in the house by housewife but when the Germans started to search the house she gave him over to them.
When combat came to an end Hildebrandt's tank (tactical number: 24) was seen by Polish eyewitness (15-years old boy Rafał Malar - inhabitant of a nearby house) while squashing already abandoned Polish guns.
On the same day Hauptmann Lemor (Kdr. 1./Pz.Rgt.15) in his Pz-II in a fierce tank vs gun fire duel eliminated one Polish 75mm gun by killing its crew - commander of the gun lost his head (it was wrenched off by 20mm missiles from Pz-II's automatic gun), side of the aimer was wrenched off.
Both events are confirmed by Polish sources.
On 12.09.1939 near Warsaw Hauptmann Schnell (Pz.Rgt.35) together with his marching column knocked out 7 Polish tanks.
I haven't found the exact confirmation of this event in Polish sources yet, but on 12.09.1939 1. Light Tanks Company of the Command of the Defense of Warsaw (12 x 7TP tanks) suffered high casualties while succesfully counterattacking Okęcie airfield and while later protecting withdrawal of a Polish infantry unit.

Hi Hardigan,
re. Paletta:
to be true the 12 T34 were destroyed by his Batterie, not by himself (Paletta should have an hand into this action too of course).

Re: High Scorers with Panzers and Paks
Roland Paul, initially a 1.Kompanie Zugführer with the Stug Abt "Das Reich", 37 confirmed tank kills in one 6 month period in 1943. Final score unknown, German Cross in Gold awarded August 28, 1944.
Though not within the thread's question parameters, Adolf Peichl had 11 single-handed tank kills with "Das Reich" (highest number with that division). A rather amazing feat and assume some done with a projector so he could be considered in a unique sub-catagory.

Re: High Scorers with Panzers and Paks
If there's no objection the edit of the list will result in a
1) A - Z (all) list - like existing originally - and
2) separate sub-lists (like started) with a most possible differentiation of the type of vehicles and weapons used
Mark,
I was thinking some days about the meaning of "projector". Kind of so-called "Ladungsträger" or something else ?
correct for Paul ? 37 kills with 1./Stug.Abt. 2 ; most likely Ustuf. at that time period (?)
DKiG then : Paul, Roland, 28.08.1944, SS-Obersturmführer, 3./SS-Pz.Jäg.Abt. 2
regards
Bernd

Re: High Scorers with Panzers and Paks
Hi all,
it took a long time to add what you have contributed to the list on page 1. This I've done now in a first round of going on working on and administrating this topic. Sorry, and thanks for all contributions !
You will recognize the new stuff marked blue, and overtaken right now as it was provided. This should be a (re-)start first. I'm looking for and considering a kind of "standard layout" for the data sets ; in addition there could be expanded entries with more material when available.
Thanks in advance for anything which improves the list and makes it more accurate and complete !
The most important thing ; sources !! Some info was provided without a source or needs a confirmation at least.
As long as there can't be added a source to the list, the (minimum) statement used for the introduction of a "High Scorer" or the mentioning of a soldier within another text/compilation (Axis History Factbook for example) seriously should be and can be only (IMO)
usually credited with ...
Finally, it's still true and I can't say it better than Ron on the very start

Best regards...this would be an excellent opportunity to add, correct, modify and embellish to the list below. We all read and as we come across data on this subject, this would be the opportunity to share with others.

German tank under command of Kurt Scheele and with Hartie Effenberg as one of crew members, knocked out one Polish tankette during the battle of Mokra on 01.09.1939 (later during the same battle this tank was knocked out - Kurt Scheele was KIA and Hartie Effenberg lost his leg).
During the battle of Piotrków Trybunalski on 05.09.1939 one German tank or AT gun is said to knock out 7 Polish tanks - I don't remember where I have read about it, but maybe some of you know anything more about it?

Re: High Scorers with Panzers and Paks
Bernd,
Max Schachner on page 1:
the score of 24 T34 was achieved with TWO Selbstfahrlafetten, so his PERSONAL score might have been 10 tanks or more, who knows... (the lion's share not necessarily scored by his gun), as he was responsible for this action he got the Ritterkreuz.

Re: High Scorers with Panzers and Paks
Thanks Oliver, added. This is a situation indeed you merely can make a score ; the same like a so-called "Flakkampftrupp" in action, consisting of two 8,8 or similar. The "Führungsleistung" weights surely but it is nothing without a combined effort of a crew or a Trupp.
Two supplements to the above intro and request.
1) Out of the several threads on topic this one should be the biggest and most relevant
Highest scoring tank ace
Most probably this was the base for the redo of this sticky. Nevertheless let's take a look there too and check if all is transfered to here.
2) Sorry to those members who contributed high scorers of foreign countries ! I didn't disregard, but I'm unsure how to handle them. Possibly done already but eventually it is preferable to add those to active threads in other sections (Minor Nations) of the forum. It is to consider also to add them here in an "addendum".
