About the picture from O. Meckelburg.
Isn't he SS-Stubaf in that picture that Harmel posted on page 1???

And about that unit.
So in 1942 he was commander from 3. Kompanie with II. Bataillon from SS-Gebirgs-Jäger-Regiment 2.
And from ?? 1943 till end of 1944 he was commander from III. Bataillon with SS-Freiwilligen-Gebirgs-
Jäger-Regiment 14 'Skanderberg'.
So when did this regiment changed it's number from 2 into 14 or wasn't this the case??

But if I'm correct and it was first 2 and then 14 it means SS-Gebirgs-Jäger-Regiment 1 changed into
SS-Freiwilligen-Gebirgs-Jäger-Regiment 13 'Artur Phleps' at a certain time.

And in both cases Meckelburg did suceeded W. Christiansen as commander, first from 3. Kompanie and later
from III. Bataillon.

Hope I'm a bit on the right track.
Mike

The SS-Sturmbannführer who is in the front cover of 39-45 Magazine is indeed Otto Meckelburg. When this photograph was taken (early spring 1943), he was one of the youngest officers within the division's Gebirgsjäger-Regimenter. This picture comes from the US National Archives.

Hi Harmel,

Could you tell me where you can order on-line the "39-45 Magazine" and is the language in French?

Thanks in advance.

Which one should be von Steuben?
I thought SS-Stubaf. on the right (with a scar) is Dr. Kröhle.

Cheers,
Ivan

I'm looking for first name and info about
SS-Hauptsturmführer Müller (1.SS-Gebirgsj.Rgt.)

Image

These are parts of photos (there is at least 5 of them)
showing Müller with Petersen, Niedermayer and Brunst,
taken in mid-June 1943. in the area of mountain Stoča.

Thanks in advance,
Ivan

Again thank you very much, this is always great info.
Like I said in the past, my files don't have to be that long(that's always nice of course), but the most
basic info is something I always try to gather(rank, DoB, SS- and partynumber).

So this info is indeed very welcome for these officers.

But what about Meckleburg??? Are they the same person and how is it possible that he was already Ostubaf. in 1940 while he was not promoted to Stubaf. before 1943???? Maybe a typing-error on that website???

Greetings,
Mike
No trace of a Obersturmbannführer Meckelburg could it be Obersturmführer Meckelburg i.e.the same as the one listed in the 1938 DAL. he was serving with 2 SS Totenkopfstandarte 1938

Kröhle also wears Heer arm-eagle on the right photo,
just like the officer in question...

A SS veteran had told me that is was von Steuben on the picture, that is why I trusted him and wrote this caption. But I can see now that he was wrong : this man is Kröhle with a 95% probability.
