Thanks very much for the compliment! When I first got to this splendid forum, I was a bit dissapointed to see how little is written and discussed on this very interesting (and important) theatre of war. That's why I started this thread, and with the invaluable help of my forum friends (mostly my ex-compatriots) and the "foreign" guests such a you Mr.Stoigniew, we are really shaping it into something big.

I agree,let's keep posting!

Cheers,

Gaius

French tank, type SOMUA, used by the Germans in "Unternehmen Weiss", knocked out by the Partisans, taken from "BAtaljon Fenikx by Mladen Paver

There's one fine description of how the Partisans captured a Hotchkiss tanks used by 7th SS Geb.D. in "Weiss" in the book by M.Paver "Bataljon Feniks". The crew had to bail out and they took the bolt action along, so the Partisans had a tank with useless cannon. Tank was shipped to "Main tech.service" and engineeres were told to try and repair the cannon. Željko Kraus (the main engineer) was convinced that he can do that, but nor he, or his associates ever saw cannon's bolt action. They went to the front to check out some AT cannons and howitzers in order to get the idea what they must to. Sketches were made, and 10 days later the job was done! They tried it. After fired shell bolt action jammed and lost it's shape. They made a new one out of better materials - this one was fine, and it served without malfunctions until the end of the war!

With posters like this NDH authorities tried to scare croatian people about future in new Yugoslavian state.
On the poster are the words:"this is going to be future of croats in democratic and federative Yugoslavia" 1944.

Being born in SFRY I find some of the old habits and customs hard to drop. Here is a little contribution to the personalty cult of "the greatest son of our peoples" ,in the context of the thread,of course. :)

Wo ist Tito?
Partisan Gospe Talić, captured by the Germans in Drvar landings, May 1944

G.Talić refused to say where Tito was hiding, but I am not sure about her fate. Can somebody tell me was she killed, sent to a camp, or exchanged?

Educated guess:she was probably shot after interrogation. Paras had no time for prisoners-here is a thread with good discussion on Drvar and casaulties:

Gaius,

Maček went to Drvar to report and to receive new orders. And the new orders were to begin creating lists of undesirable citizens, who's fate will be decided after the war.

I seem to remember reading that Miss/Mrs. Talić survived the war :| .
