Great pictures, and excellent topic!

Last one:
Communist literature claims that this is Nikola Kalabić with partisans (disguised as četniks),
day after they captured Gen. Mihailović.
This photo simply isn't clear enough to be sure.
You can make every long-bearded man's face blury
and claim it is Kalabić.

(photo-source: "Album srpskih četnika gen.D.Mihailovića u 1000 slika Vol.1", M.Samardžić)

There are several versions of Kalabić's fate and Draža's capturing,
but none of them can be called final and true.

But - that's another story...
This would be a reply to an old post, but I just wanted to help with the 'blury' one...

Dear Gaius,

very powerful photos. Do you by any chance know any more about this one
(Iscrpljeni partizani,Sutjeska,11.juna 1943..jpg (32.86 KiB)
who took it? where the original is, if one exists?

Hi Tim,

I think (not 100% sure) that one was taken by Skrigin as well. My guess is that the original is in one of the archives/museums in Belgrade.

Thank you Gaius,

Yes, you are right, a little more research on Zorz Skrigin shows this photo was indeed taken by him. Thank you.

I wonder if you can help with another question? Some time ago I came across this quote (on the Forum?) spoken by a Slovene peasant partisan as he faced a German firing squad: 'It is for your sake that I am dying.'
Do you by any chance recognise this? Could you possibly put a name, date, location to it?

Tim

Hi Goran,

and thanks for posting these remarkable photos.
I am unsure about this one. On the picture you can see ustasha member with his massacred victim. Should I remove this one?
It would be best if you could remove it, host it on some webpage and provide a link to it.

Cheers,
