Hi Max
concerning the Matilda, there seems to be only one vehicle converted
with the name Oswald. Spielberger claims the scene to be in northern France.
Other sources state that it was converted by Hochsee-Lehrkommando in Terneuzen
in Holland and used in loading excercises. It is not clear where the Matilda originated
from. Maybe from the BEF in France or North Africa.

Hi Armin,
That's interesting. In Encyclopedia of German Tanks of World War Two Chamberlain, Doyle , and Jentz say "a number of old Matilda tanks" were converted to the 5 cm, but their only picture is the last one you posted.

you are right. I just reread the passage in the Encyclopedia,
but other sources for example Regenberg state that it was a single
vehicle. Who's right we will probably never know.
