Hallo friends:

Not a good answer as I am running very short of time. This recession or possibly depression is having a large impact on my business and my free time.

I believe the first two photos of Francy's latest posts are Chevrolet trucks, not GMC, and are from the year 1938.
That would possibly make them coming from Belgium or Holland.

Note the single pane front windscreen and the arrangement of the cooling louvers on the side of the motor hood which are not typical of the later French GMC and are typical of a 1938 Chevrolet.

When I have some time, I will research further but if anyone else has an opinion in the meantime, I hope they will post it here.

Hi Bill,

You are right, the single pane front windscreen and the arrangement of the cooling louvers on the side of the motor hood indicate, that the trucks are not from France, but I don´t agree with You acoording Chevrolet. The wheels with eight holes are, as far as I know, typical for GMC-trucks.

Bert

Hi all Beute lovers!
Found something that made me happy for years:

Image

Bedford MW, of course. The caption says "4. Komp. Techn. Abt. 4 im Huettenwerk Rikowo bei Stalino, Sommer 1942".
Enjoy!
"...and on the 8th day He made truck so that man, made on 7th day, had shelter when woman threw him out for the night."

Hi Sander,
Not sure this Tatra can be called a Beute vehicle, after all its design and manufacture only occured as as direct result of the Wehrmacht issuing a specification to the Tatra company, and is not an ex-Czechoslovakian Army vehicle or design of vehicle from before the German occupation.

But great photo so keep them coming.

Hi Fellows:

I too stopped on this photo.

The vehicle type is well known but I have never seen one without Notek lights in German service.

Edit: I might have found the Notek on the right front mudguard, not sure.

Note also that this one has the white outlines around the mudguards and the blacked out main headlamps which would indicate a vehicle in a non-combat area.

I cannot make the registration plate any clearer so I cannot read it, but the soldiers, who appear unarmed, look more like labourers than combat soldiers. Especially with all the children around.

I wonder if the photo might have been taken after the war was over somewhere.

The pic has been printed in reverse, look at the number plate. I don't think that we can call the Tatra a "beute" as the Germans made the factory switch it from RHD to LHD and this is LHD, or would be if the pic was the right way round, you can see the steering wheel against the standing figure's legs. Regardless of that I always like to see medical tactical signs ! A Hauptverbandplatz/San.Kp.

Nice one Francy,Its hard to believe that the Germans could find a practical use for such a vechile. Two from ebay, one of the VCL and a Beute Guy armored car.
