Ludwig Ritter von Radlmaier

Hi!

This General has been a very elusive character for a long time and if memory serves me correctly, pics of him sought after by quite a few people. I found this pic today on e-bay:

Nice photo! It appears he's displaying the neck badge (top one) and eight-pointed breast star of a Grand Officer of the Order of the Crown of Italy. Unfortunately, I can't identify the second non-German neck badge and breast star.

Best regards,
Shawn

Great Picture....nice find.

What is the History of this General. If memory serves me correct he was one of the founding Panzer men but I could be wrong. Does anyone have a detailed career of this man?

Thanks in advance.

Stauffenberg II,

Thank you for the quick reply. However, looking through his career and your post, there seems to be a gap between 1941 and his death in 1943. What was he doing in this period and how did he die.....was it during command or an accident?

Cheers

Scott

Is this the same Radlmaier? The caption is: Oberst v. Radlmeier. Taken from photoalbum of a soldier (Unteroffizier Richard Eiermann) from Panzerabteilung 65...

Hello, Gen v. Radlmaier retired in 1941, at the early age of 54. I suspect he may have been sick because he died less than 2 years later. HFK

Hi gents!

Nearly 6 years have passed since I posted the pic of our elusive Radlmaier. Now I have found a much improved version, also from e-bay.de.

Hi,

if it were still of interest: the second breast star and referring neck decoration is the "Order of the White Rose of Finland".

Regards

Christian
