What scale do you prefer when it comes to modelling?

I think 1/35...

Most of the armour is available in 1/35 and it offers the most detail.. i guess (except voor 1/16...but that's a bit to big...also 1/6)...

But sometimes, I also build 1/72 because of the space....it doesn't cost much space.

But Daniel, I think you forgot one scale, namely 1:48! Tamiya has released a lot of 1/48 models lately! So that scale is coming up (although I dont see the use of it)

1/6 just because it's so much more fun. not to say more challenging, but more fun. don't get me wrong, i've spent enough time squinting and ruining my eyes trying to paint SS camo on 1/35 but also as much time spent computer generating my own patterns in one sixth. plus the challenge of scratch building everything, and not by choice! you want space issues, look i only had enough room around to build the panzer Iv turret:

I think 1:35 as the best compromise between possibility to personalization, details and dimensions.
But I dream a 1/16 Tiger...

I haven't voted as I haven't modelled in years. But it was one of my favourite past times, pity I neglected it... who knows!

Anyhow, I have to ask a question since this is on each person's favourite scale of model, and I apologise in advance if it seems OT (One reply to my question should suffice), but it has been on my mind for years (believe it or not).

Why is there the disparity between aircarft at 1/32 scale, and armour + infantry at 1/35?

How excellent it would be for one to be able to build a airport diorama (whether it be Luftwaffe or allied) with the same scale!

That would be fantastic, but where in the hell would you put it??? Two planes, with almost adequate dispersion, with a couple of refuelers, a Kubel, and a Kettenkrad hauling in some weaponry would take up a lot of space!

As one (in)famous Polish modeler said: '' As in battle where men are seperated from the boys in modeling small scale (1/72 or smaller)seperates modellers from children.''
So join us in the real gentelmans scale (1/72) . One can get anything (almost) in this scale: planes, wheicles, crews, ground personel, buildings...

Many, many, years ago I bought a pack of 1/72 figures of both British paratroopers (Cold War era) and WarPac forces as well as a pack of US Marines. They took me ages to complete the sets.

So I can appreicate your efforts in those pictures fo yours. 8)

I wargame in 1/35th. I have about two battalions worth of Germans (one armored, one infantry but only enought halftracks to mount one company currently the rest are set up as leg infantry). I also have a herd of Russians including about 30 T34 and T34/85, batteries of SU 100, Su 85, SU 122 etc. My Russians also include a 76mm battery and a 122mm section along with 2 companies of infantry. There are alot of scratch built kits included in these as well as vacuforms and resin kits. On the figures: No two are alike. I went to alot of pain to make that happen.
In aircraft I wargame in 1/72nd scale having oh about 100 various aircraft for that.

The 1/35s are really impressive. If I could upload photos here I have a bunch of some of the games. A friend does the US. He has a finished company of US infantry and is working through an armored cavalry troop right now. If he ever gets everything he has done I'm in trouble as he has a room nearly floor to ceiling stacked with unbuilt kits. Of course, I have alot unbuilt too.....
