Well let's see, 1/350 for ships, 1/35 armour and infantry, and 1/48 and 1/32 for aircraft.

I model in various scales. For wargaming, vehicles and infantry in 1/76. Aircraft in 1/72. Ships from 1/1200 to 1/72.

I perfer 1/72. It is economical and doesn't take up the room that the larger scales do. It also works you harder to detail it.

1/72 also for economics and the space it takes. I am happy that there is a lot of Russian stuff the last 2 decades.

Re: Scale preference poll
1/48... I usually scratch-build papaermodel AFVs in 1/48 and 1/50 scale, and I have also built some plastic models in 1/48. It offers batter detail than 1/72, but takes less space than 1/35. I also think AFVs are most lovely in this scale.

Re: Scale preference poll
I paint soldiers/figures in 1/72 and base them to create whole units according to real order of battle.
For fun I build helicopters in 1/48, mainly UH1 type in all possible versions.

Re: Scale preference poll
1/72nd scale is the only practical scale to show relative size. Also the scale the most subjects are available in.

Sounds very cool. I have often thought of that but never pursued it. Would love to see some photos if you have any.Gebirgsjaeger wrote:I paint soldiers/figures in 1/72 and base them to create whole units according to real order of battle.

The quanity of subjects is a very good point for doing 1/72 scale.uhu wrote:1/72nd scale is the only practical scale to show relative size. Also the scale the most subjects are available in.
"uhu" one of my favorite subjects in my younger days and I believe I have one still in the box on the shelf somewhere.

Re: Scale preference poll
This is why I like 1/72. This is a Pz.Kpfw I Ausf. B from Italeri. Not the best subject for detailing and at 2 and a half inches long it win't take up much room. The Photos are not the best because I used a cheap camera.
Almost finished...Gotta love it...1/72You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: Scale preference poll
1/32 and 1/72; 1/32 is 54mm and so figurines are easy to come by and Wingnut Wings have some GREAT planes. 1/72 for space conservation!
