My armor building is 1/35 scale. I seem to collect more 54mm figures than I actually paint. I would love to start doing stand alone figures but I never seem to have the time. For that matter I don't build like I used to either. I have a ton of 1/72 scale figures for my Waterloo diorama that I intend to make. I have been collecting figures for it for years now but my luck I will never get around to it. Just don't tell my wife as she will have my stuff sold before I could object!

I have mostly 1/35th model AFV's, I would really like a 1/35th model of Repulse or Hood but they would struggle to fit in the house, so the majority of my models are 1/350th or 1/700th. Obviously the price is also a factor! Having said that for gaming and such I always found the GHQ 1/87th scale had the best micro models.

1/72 every time!

As a late imperial service brat in the 1950s and 1960s, I was allowed one trunk as a child. The only way to have lots of toys was to have small ones.

Furthermore, the bigger the toy soldiers get, the more they resembled Sindy and Barby dolls. I was therefore forbidden from having Action Man or Tommy Gunn.

1/32 is the only major competitor and you can't play expansive wargames with that scale.

Furthermore, as technology has advanced, the detail of 1/72 has improved with it, thereby reducing the one major advantage of larger scales.

1/72, without a doubt, for army kit.

However, this is probably not the ideal scale for aircraft and certainly not for ships.

Try: http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Index.aspx for a 1/72 plastic soldier fest!

A nostalgic Sid.

1/35 is by far the best all around, anything else is just too big or too small!

If money wasn't the problem 1/1 (bit to obvious, i couldn't resist.., sorry) But money, and therefore space too, isn't unlimmetid, and i want to own every plane that the luftwaffe used, so 1/72 is the only way to go..... sadly.
I don't think the Me323, BV222, Ju290 and many others are easy to find in a other scale. Heller or Mach2 did sell a 1/72 Ar232 for instance, does anyone know if such a plane (or BV138, Do26.., etc.) was/is made in any other scale.., i would not mind, but i started in 1/72 allready, so unless i become milliounaire, i think i have to go on in that scale.., lol.
Greetings stano

I prefer grand strategic level wargames (WW1 and WW2 Eastern Front), so I find that 1/300 is the only practical scale if you want to represent entire army corps. And, it works well for map to table top translation.

I like to build 1/72 - no space problem, and models can be easily used as decoration at bookshelves. Enough visibility for some details, althoug lots of detail work remains hidden. Some of the planes of 1:72 are actually quite big - I built recently Douglas DB-8/Northrop A-17 and for a single-engined plane it is really big compared to Brewster Buffalo and I-16 of same scale.

1/16 since I love sratch-built artillery pieces, especially smaller ones like mountain guns and 2cm flaks. 1/35 will be too small to represent some of the details.

The problem is it's difficult to find figures and horses in this scale - can anyone recommend some good 1/16 horses? :?

Looks like I missed out on this. I would have voted 1/16 figure and "other:, for 1/32 aircraft.
