Re: Scale preference poll
Dear friends
definitely 1/72 but only because of the last 10 years of development of figures and many other accessories which help to make
nice dioramas plus the arrival of 3d printers which allowed the creation of diorama thingies like buildings etc. plus the arrival of 3d pens
which help to make trees from scratch. All these eliminated - my opinion of course - the lack of materials to make our dioramas and creations
and focus on the main advantage of 1/72 scale: size that enables to put them on display easily in a normal house.

Re: Scale preference poll
Hi all, I've been collecting Bolt Action model kits lately, they are 1/56 scale and quite detailed and a nice size for wargaming, etc. There is a good selection of diorama accessorys too also i find 1/48 scale a;so close enough to mix and match.
Re: Scale preference poll
I like the 1/144 scale. Its small work, but so nice....
Re: Scale preference poll
I used to work in 1/72 scale for years and did build a museum/airfield in my hobby room. (hence my name GMC72)
But recently I became an addict in building 1/35 trucks and find so much more fun building them because you can put so much more detail in it.
I will still try to build my oversize stock of 1/72 airplane and vehicle models but the bigger 1/35 trucks are more fun.

Re: Scale preference poll
I personally prefer 1/72 for planes but 1/35 for armour and ground vehicles

Re: Scale preference poll
Hi everyone.
I have recently got back my model making bug, well it has been over 40 years.
I have uncovered my old model collection from in the attic and was surprised at how bad it looks, not how the models are made but the different scales. My preferred models are WW2 armoured vehicles, troops and artillery, which I used to wargame with when we had a wargames club near bye.
The models are mostly three different makes, Airfix, Matchbox and Esci. I placed together the Airfix StuG III, the Matchbox Pz Mk. III Ausf J and the Esci Pz Mk. III Ausf M and was appalled at how different they looked scale wise.
So, getting to my point, I want to create a new collection in 1/72, mainly German and British to start with as this will allow me to match them up with my hundreds of painted soldiers which I still have all in company sized units. I am really out of touch with what is out there now.
I want to try and keep to the same make, which would make they all look even in scale, but which company or make?
I want to start with British armour with Vickers Mk. VIs, A9, A10 and A13 cruisers, plus early makes of armoured cars along with all the early panzers and German armoured cars.
Any ideas guys?
Regards
Yan

Re: Scale preference poll
For the early German stuff you could do much worse than the Polish firm First to Fight (FtF) and the same team's World at War (WaW) offerings. You will have to search more widely for early British. Word of warning - the WaW Panzer IVs are way underscale - a 'small' 1/76 and not always labelled as such. Now I wasn't complaining, because they matched my very old Airfix conversions nicely, but it certainly does not please the purists. WaW were planning a series of early British vehicles to match the German set, which was supposed to start appearing early in 1919 - but here we are in September and not a peep - unless someone knows better.
Otherwise, I would strongly recommend a trip to the most excellent site of Henk of Holland for inspiration.

Thanks gebhk, those two model companies are unknown to me.
I have had dealings with Henk in the past and he is a top bloke and runs a great site.

Re: Scale preference poll
Hello everyone.
I have been looking at films on youtube which show the construction of kits made by ‘model soldier company’. I must say that their 1/72 scale military vehicles look great and some of the kits have multiply vehicles in each box. The problem I have is the question of scale as I have models and figures which I have had for over 20 years, most of the kits are Airfix and the figures are a mixture of Airfix, Esci and Revell. I think that all of my kits and figures are mainly in 1/72, so would these PSC kits look okay with my old 1/72 kits and figures?
I don't want to buy PSC Pz IV and Stug III to have them look different with my Airfix Pz IV and Stug III.

Re: Scale preference poll
Hi Yantaylor.
The Airfix Pz 4 and Stug should be a different size to the PSC offerings because they are in a different scale (Airfix being 1/76, PSC 1/72).

Re: Scale preference poll
Hi gebhk.
I bought a couple of Plastic Soldier Company kits a few weeks ago both in 1/72, one was Pz IIIs and the other Pz IVs, now the kits built well, the road wheels are a let down but it made for a quick build, but to my horror the Panzer IIIs are virtually the same size as the Mk IVs, which is wrong.
If I would have known this before hand, I would have bought my Pz IIIs elsewhere.
PSC should be aware of this and sort it out!

Re: Scale preference poll
It’s a 1/35 scale world !
Re: Scale preference poll
I do like the 1/48 scale as it's has a lot of products on that scale and it's a nice size for me.
