I think it would be very adventageous to start a research in the net including google and our forum.
The best advice of course: Go to a lending library instead of buying the following books
Thomas, Franz (unter Mitarbeit von Günter Wegmann): Die Eichenlaubträger 1940 - 1945. Band 1 & 2. Biblio Verlag, Osnabrück 1998
Berger, Florian: Mit Eichenlaub und Schwertern. Die höchstdekorierten Soldaten des Zweiten Weltkrieges. 2. Überarbeitete Auflage, Wien 1999
Erwin Lenfeld / Franz Thomas: Die Eichenlaubträger 1940 - 1945, Weilburg Verlag, Wiener Neustadt, 1983
Dieter Z.
BTW: Hilgemann was (after the war) a veterinary surgeon !!

Hi
I posted a thread on Major Klaus Hilgemann some time back. I got two photos of him. On both he was wearing only KC. The thread is still here if you would want to look it up.
I was able to get a photo of him wearing oakleaves from another source. I don't think it would copy well as photo is very light.
I don't think there are many photos of him as I have been looking for several months and have only found these three.
Hope this helps,if you come up with anything else on Hilgemann drop me a line.
Regards
Odell

Dennhardt is cancelled definitively as Oakleaves-holder by Veit Scherzer !!adalberto wrote:BTW...
The picture of Dennhardt id from http://www.das-ritterkreuz.de

Adalberto
Major Domaschk / HPA (Heeres-Personalmt) 28.04.1945 an AOK Ostpreußen: "Stellungnahme AK und Armee erforderlich" (request for a comment).
Not mentioned in the "Vorschlagsbuch" (list for recommendation) for the oakleaves, also not mentioned in the "Vorschlagsbuch" for the KC (Since number 5.100).
The OdR acknowledged the bestowal (oakleaves) under the so-called "Dönitz-Erlass". This was and is illegal according german law.
Nevertheless Dennhardt is a member of the OdR. He wears the oakleaves on his Bundeswehr-ribbon bar in the pic above.

The last official number given by the OKW was the No 843 (Knaust).adalberto wrote:Hello Dieter,
What´s happened with Oak # 870 (Dennhardt)? canceled or given to another holder ??
Regards,
Adalberto
The following numbers were all assumed by the OdR (Ordensgemeinschaft der Ritterkreuzträger) a long time after the war, a mixture consisting real bestowals
(such as Joachim Ziegler -without any number in reality) and bestowals of the OdR without any qualifying certificate according legal german conditions, such as Dennhardt.
This is the end of some fakes, myths, fibs and fraudulent fellowships by and in the OdR.
Since the edition of Veit Scherzer' s outstanding book "Ritterkreuzträger" we have to correct a lot of apparentlly sure informations and many reference-books or -lists !!
