I am a member of the Military Aircraft Preservation Society (MAPS). It is the second largest aviation museum in Ohio after the Air Force Museum.

I guess when you mean Axis you referring to WW2 only? Because if your interested in WW1 aircraft of Germany i know of a museum of WW1 aircraft set up at the top of the South Island in NZ that Peter jackson and weta workshop (from Lord of the Rings) were involved with somehow. I know theres a website ill try and find if your interested. Ive heard of really good feedback from ppl that have been there and i cant wait to go myself.

In addition to the Wright-Patterson Museum, there is a smaller but interesting collection at the Washington Dulles Air Museum next door to the Dulles Airport in Northern Virginia. Some of the Luftwaffe AC housed there include:

Down near Kissemee, FL there is a private collection by Mr. Kermit Weeks. It is open to the public for a small fee. Among many rare AC he has a Fieseler Storch Fi 156 in flyable condition. I watched it do a demo one day where the pilot put the flaps down and flew into the wind and his ground speed slowed to near zero. When he landed the roll out was about 15 yds. They are known as Fantasy of flight.

In Orlando at the Kissemee Airport is a very small Museum for lack of a better term. It is the Weisse-Eins (White One) Foundation. In a single hanger they have two Fw 190F8's. One is being restored to static Museum condition for the Norweigian Air Force Museum and the other is being restored to "Flyable" like new condition. It is a rare opportunity to see, touch and examine up close the internal workings of the Fw 190 and to speak with some of the most knowledgable living experts on their construction. It is a slow, detailed and painstaking process.

I am suprised this thread stopped so long ago. Arizona has a couple of museums with excellent collections of axis and allied aircraft. The Champlin Fighter Musuem in Mesa, AZ and the Pima County Air Museum in Tucson,AZ.

No, there are no original WW2-era aircraft. But the very elaborate historical section shows exact models of most Dornier aircraft from 1914 to 1990, including Do 23, Do 17, Do 217, Do 335, Do 18, Do 26.

I recently visited the museum Hangar 10 at Heringsdorf airport on the island of Usedom. They have a fine collection of both axis and allied aircrafts including:

- Messerschmidt Me 109 G
- Messerschmidt Me 109 E (wreck)
- HA-1112 Buchon (starring as Me 109 in the 1969 movie Battle of Britain)
- Bücker Bü 131 Jungmann
- Focke-Wulf Fw 190 (fuselage only)
- D.H.82 Tiger Moth
- North American Mustang P-51 D
- North American Harvard AT-6A
- Boeing – Stearman A 75 N1
- Yakowlew YAK-9
- Polikarpow Po-2

The exhibition also contains aircraft engines, equipment and Vehicles like the SdKfz 2 Kettenkrad. Some of the planes are in flying condition, round trips are available in the AT-6A and the Tiger Moth (price list).

planes of fame air museum here in Southern California , usa, no longer has their Me 262, They have a nice FW 190 looking almost brand new now, which was pretty amazing to see, and many other other ww2 planes, but not many german ones.

I think they said the Me 262 is in northern california now. Anyway, I do highly recommend Planes of Fame Air Museum here in California, for anyone visiting. Also many of their planes are flyable, and they do fly quite a few of them at airshows here.
