U-Boot Operation Coordinates Chart

#1

Post by Kim Sung » 15 Oct 2005, 18:02

These are coordinates charts in U-Boot operation during WW2.

According to these charts, New York is on CA1993, and Rio de Janeiro on GA2323, and Capetown on GR5356.

Do you understand? :)

Yes. this is the standard German naval grid chart used by all German warships, not just U-boats. It divided the globe into letter grids, then subdivided these into nine sectors and further divided these nine sectors into nine more for each.

Actually NYC is in CA27.

For more detailed Kriegsmarine maps, goto this site: http://u-boot.realsimulation.com/
Click on SHIII downloads. From SHIII downloads page; click on "I understand and agree",
scroll down to the Silent Hunter III Charts and Maps. In there are all the KM maps. However, these maps are only good for finding CA27, but not for CA2713. The maps just are not that detailed.

Please NOTE!:

Most of the maps use 7Zip compression, so you will need to download 7zip(If you don't have it already). You can get that here: http://www.7-zip.org/

Viewing most, if not all maps(once uncompressed) requires some form of Adobe Reader

Hi,
The last link on this page http://www.geocities.com/germangrid/eindex.html is a neat little program, that will do conversions down to 4 digets.
