Put all your questions, pictures and data about the Chinese Warlords, the Kuomintang and Northern expedition, equipment, weapons and most importantly people like Chiang Kai Shek, Cao Kun ,Li Yuanh-hong etc here, so that there may be a form of data-base for China from the collapse of the monarchy to the start of the Sino-Japanses war...so that if anyone needs to know anything about the period, they can find out or be helped in a specific thread!

Well here is a start your basic army unit of the Early Republic and a model for the Warlord era.

Original source in Chinese, then translated to Russian and finally to English, somewhere about 1912.
Chinese spellings are circa the era.
This gives the departure point for the official division until
Chiang's attempted German model division reorganization.

Engineer Battalion:--4 Companies
Transport Battalion:-- 4 Companies

Note: Infantry Squads were to have 14 men, with the platoon
only having half its authorized squads in peacetime.

This is authorized strength, since economic and political factors interferred, it is
unlikely any division really met either table, especially in the 1920's.

thats really good thanks...but alas, as for the pioctures of the warlord figures from sites like : http://www.2499cn.com/minguozhaopian1.htm, i cannot translate them etc.....i also research for a mod for the game Hearts of Iron 2, and the mod we do is around the period 1914-1925, so the early chaps are very helpfull, but i cannot tell who they are and find otu and add them to it, if i dont know what their names are etc....is there anythign you can do with that??

I copied the chapters in Chinese and then have gone back thru copying the Chinese text in groups of paragraphs and translate to English. It gets you a somewhat understandable account. As you learn more about the language you can clean up the translation better.

I have it with Chinese text and English translation page by page. Its about a 5,5K document.

Just to look at them you can paste in the web address and ask it to translate the page.

cheers, but it comes out as wierd numbers and letters, i dont have the ability to get the language packet things to allow me to view proper chinese alphabet etc...it comes up wierd.....which is highly annoying, and i dont want to install lanuage packets, my PC has gone through a lot and i dont want to do anything major or something i dont know about

You just have to paste in the http address of the page and paste that in with a request to tranlate from chinese to english. It will come out in English, You dont need Chinese characters.
