Gotenhafen & Danzig Units

#3

Post by donwhite » 15 Dec 2005, 12:23

This is by no means all inclusive/complete.

Gotenhafen:
Marine-Schutzen-Btl 104, 105, "Gotenhafen", 100, 101, 102,103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109 (Possibly all serving under Fest-Div "Gotenhafen")
Marine-Fla-Btl 259, Marine-Ers-Btl 35, Luftwaffe-Field-Btl "Gotenhafen", Marine -Wach- Kommando "Gotenhafen", Marine-Fest-Pi-Abt "Gotenhafen"

Danzig:
Fest-Pak-Verband VI (HQ in Danzig), Marine-Art-Abt "Danzig-Bomsucz", Wach-Btl "Danzig", Fest-Stamm-Art-Btl 3122, Pz-Abwehr-Abt "Danzig-Gotenhafen", Pz-Zerstorer-Kp "Danzig-Langfuhr", Pz-Vernicht-Kp "Danzig-Rath".

There may have been some Landschutzen Btl around the two locations but I'm Still researching this.

Cheers

You will find a lot about Thorn , Graudenz , Warschau und the Danzig area in Hans Jürgen Pantenius' "Letzte Schlacht an der Ostfront - Von Döberitz bis Danzig" and about Kolberg and Stettin in Erich Murawskis "Die Eroberung Pommerns durch die Rote Armee" !

Pillau

#6

Post by donwhite » 21 Dec 2005, 12:57

Again this incomplete. (Source 'Organisationsgeschichte der Deutschen Wehrmacht 1939-1945' ) - basically Tessin on CD I think!
Pillau: Lufnachriten Abt. "Pillau" (4/45), Marine Schutzen Abt. 121, 122, 123, 124 & 125 (3/45)
Marine Schutzen Abt "Deitrich" (2/45), Marine Arty Abt. 'Pillau', 533, Marine Flak Abt 218, Sturm Btl "Linke" (2/45), KG "Himmelreich", KG "Herb" (Gren Rgt 380?), Fest.Pillau (z.b.V.607),
Fest.Btl.1413 (with 548 VGD?).

Also From "Gotterdammerung 1945" by Russ Schneider, there mention of the 83.ID been shipped into Pillau in late April'45 from Hela. The 257 Inf Rgt was previously left behind in Graudenz.

Fest Graudenz

Post by donwhite » 27 Dec 2005, 06:46

Some of the units that were present included 257th Inf Rgt/83rd ID, Fsch-Ausbildungs-u-Ersatz Bde "HG', Inf-Fla-Btl 828, Alarm Kp 'Graudenz', Fest-Stamm- Art-Abt 3123 (formation uncertain?), Landeschutzen Btl 209. The aforementioned Russ Schneider mentions several Volksturm units but does not elaborate on their designation or exact number

Cheers from New South Wales
