women in men's uniforms - im Bild

Post by moses » 09 Dec 2005 02:22

i have heard that it was not uncommon for soldiers to take pictures of their girlfriends, wives, etc, wearing the man's hat/uniform, (as distinct from a woman in the service wearing her standard women's uniform) and i've seen a few photos of this. i figured i'd offer a couple of them, and see if anyone else has more.

and here we have a modern reenactment of the phenomena: alexandra maria lara playing traudl junge in "der untergang"

(judging by the fit of the feldbluse, it must be a sturm one, eh)

No Moses is not unpopular, is very interesting thread but hard to found good material, I have the hope that we can post material in the future about this!

Not quite the right context, as she's a Warsaw insurgent...
*shrugs*

I'm just here because I'm interested, not because I'm knowledgeable! Hrm, that's a nice quote, may make it a signature...

moses,

Here's a pair of my favorites. They came in a Feldpost-marked envelope with a letter sent from him to her.

indeed. as for my 2, i found them in threads of mostly random photos over on wehrmacht-awards. the posts i found them in did not give a proper source for them either. so, i'm not quite sure. far as i know, they're not from private collections of persons on that forum.

Of course the photos of Frau Junge in Der Untergang cannot be counted as an accurate source but in her book "Until the Final Hour" she writes that she put on a shorter tunic (I don't have the exact text with me). Was this perhaps an M-44 tunic?
