Interesting question.
The official air force history list precise numbers for the period 10 June 1940 to 31 December 1941 (later years probably similar):

B.T. / B.M. / B. a T. / B.G.R. / A.S. : 1,700 (extant at the start) + 1,138 (production) - 1,122 (losses) = 1,716 (extant at the end)
C.T. / C.M. / Ass. / Comb. : 1,269 + 2,168 - 1,235 = 2,202
O.A. / A.P.C. : 604 + 422 - 319 = 707
R.M. : 337 + 337 - 152 = 522
Total : 3,910 + 4,065 - 2,828 = 5,147

(transport, liason and training planes are missing from this table)

It must be noted that not all the losses were due to enemy action: a number of old planes were just retired from service.
