Italian P 43 heavy tank: drawings/pics ?
Hallo friends,
Is there any picture/drawing available of the so called P43 Italian heavy tank, studied in 1943 as further development of the P40 (and never built) ?? I guess there must hace been wooden models and/or drawings, artistic represnetaion of this tank.
I heard it should have resembled the German Panther...it would be interesting to take a look to compare...
any details (dimension, weapons, etc) on this projetc woudl be appreciated of course...
Thanks in advance/sincerely,
Nick

Note that the P43 was a "virtual" tank, which never left the drawing table. Neither gun or engine existed. It was just a paper esercitation by Ansaldo, afraid that Regio Esercito could receive German tanks instead - sort of "wait, mine is better".
BTW this Ansaldo "dream work", probably available somewhere in 1944 or 1945, was more or less the equivalent of the Pz.IV G of 1942. The Panther was on a different category.

The most famous development was the Semovente da 149/40, built in only a single prototype currently at Aberdeen Proving Ground:

Italian sources claim that Americans used this vehicle as the inspiration for M107 (well, who knows )
