Wartime magazines

#1

Post by LeighLancs » 03 Apr 2002, 20:20

When my Grandad turned up his toes about 18 months ago he left me boxes of old magazines, sport mostly but amongst them are a few items I'd be interested in learning the value of or learning more about. They're not for sale, just interested.

First is 'The Second Great War' fortnightly, numbers 1 to 26, covering the first year of the war therefore. It's edited by Major General Sir Charles Gwynn KCB DSO and Sir John Hammerton.

The other lot is Sept 39 till Nov 40 (whereupon my Grandad himself was called up, spent half an hour in combat and got his left leg blown off - such is life eh?), the weekly 'The War Illustrated', edited by Hammerton again.

All items are in perfect condition, except for that they stink due to having been in boxes for the last 60 years.

Any info at all gratefully received.

Cheers.
