Could it be because the BT-series were derivatives of the Christie M1931?

one would think that BT is easier to say than Christy... I mean using that logic one should call Hond Civic - "McPherson"

Mr Törni,

Wellcome to the forum!
Yes, you remembered right, BT`s were called Christies.

Oleg,

There`s a certain logig, why : SU bought the first two "real" Christies from States in 1930. In SU they were re-named BT-1. There is much more Christie in every BT, than McPherson in any Honda

how so? while eraly BT was a lot similar to the Christy BT-5 and BT-7 were considerably different - the only christy element was suspension -just like McPherson in Honda.

Oleg,

All BT`s were similar to the original Christie. Actually BT`S were "just" inproved Christies. I don`t know any Honda , that resembles McPherson.

I agree, BT-series tanks were very similar to original Christie-tank. The had all the same good qualities (very fast, could be used also without trucks if used only at roads) and not so good qualities (thin armour, poor terrain capabilities). Largest difference between them and original Christie tank was new engine.

MCPherson is not a car it is suspension type http://www.hondacars.com/models/specifi ... ivic+Sedan - so is so called christy - even BT-2 was differnt from Christy tank by having aditional wheel as well as reinforced suspension.

Partly. T-34 suspension was based to one used in BT-series (and Christie tank). Otherwise it was quite different tank.

Good site about Soviet tanks (however, seems somewhat unstable today):

I agree wih you, BT-2 was a Christie with some extra wheels and reinforced suspension.
About the McPherson, I knew and thought you knew too.
