From the Airplane I would say an American. It appears to be a Martin B-26 Maurader.

Raises an interesting question. I'm aware that the US and UK used female ferry pilots. Did any of the other combatants?

Hi Brian,

The Luftwaffe used female test pilots eg Hanna Reitsch and the Russians had quite a few women in combat roles in their airforce. They probably used them to ferry aircraft as well.
