Hi.

I recently bougt the H.DV 435/1 and stumblede upon this:

Any idea what weapon this is?

Due to the "T" I would estimate that it is some kind of fortress mortar but I have not really an idea.

Hi,

It's the 10cm leichte Haubitze im Turm. This is a very rare fortress weapon that was only applied 6 times:

2x Boulogne
2x Le Havre
2x Brest

In the Album Memorial by A.Chazette there is a small article about this weapon.
Also, the last days a new book by Chazette has been published about
the fortress weapons 4,7cm Fest.Pak 36 (t), 5cm M.19, le.H.T. and the different Schartentürme

Hi.

Many thanks so far.

I´m a little bit irritated as the ammunition is mortar-like:

Hello Tom

The 5 cm M19 also fired normal mortar
rounds only they were stacked on a clip
with 6 rounds .
On the photo the empty shells from the

Dear Tom , according to "Die Festungsfront Oder-Warthe-Bogen" by Miniewicz/Perzyk the Turmhaubitze was called 10,5cm-Minenwerfer first

On this topic take a look here :

I have found three 10cm leichte Haubitze im Turm platoons of two guns each:
  1012 at Brest (343. Inf.Div., XXV. AK, 7. Armee)
  1014 [at Calais ?] (47. Inf.Div., LXXXII. AK, 15. Armee)
1015 at Le Havre (17. Feld-Div.(L), LXXXI. AK, 15. Armee)

According to the Kriegsgliederung dated 01.02.44, there were another two platoons:
  1011
  1013
Does anyone know anything about these, for example where they were, to which command they were assigned ... ?

Thanks
Leo

The 1011th Platoon was located in La Rochell in October 1944. Comprising two static, embedded steel turrets, it's probable that the platoon was also in La Rochelle early June 1944. (KVA D1, 158.Res.Div., 1. Armee).

Thanks to information provided by Matthias.

Hello Leo

The " l. Haubitze Turmzug 1014" was located at Festung Boulogne ( Mont Lambert ) the bunkers are stil there .
About the 1013th I have no documentation but my guess would be Lorient ( note the document ) .

Hi Jos,
Many thanks.

When is this document dated? I have found no corresponding 664/73P9's at the Höhe 40 in Lorient.

Cheers

Sorry for destroying dreams.

The document say's for "Stützpunkt Höhe 40"

First they plan to build (2 ?) "le.T.H." but then they change it in "Fest.G.W." M 19.
But they had construction building problems, so they had to shut the hole,
they dig for the bunker.

No le.T.H. and no M 19 were build.
Was the bunker too heavy for the ground ?

Hello Michael

I know that , but there was a intention to build the l.H.T. at Lorient and we are missing the 1013 zug .
AFAIK the ones at Brest and Boulogne were build and operationel , for Le Havre we are not sure .
