Nikolaus Burggraf und Graf zu Dohna-Schlodien was appointed as an aide de camp to the Kaiser in May 1918.

He wasn't a well liked officer.

From the Muller Diaries,May 1918.

..I had a slight passage with His Majesty about Count Dohna...I pointed out to His Majesty that Count Dohna,on account of his talent for self-aggrandisement,was persona non grata with the Fleet,but I added somehat maliciously--this talent would probably be acceptable in an aide.

The Admiral suffered peptic ulcers,not helped by his close contact with the Kaiser.The one bright side he saw in the appointment of Graf zu Dohna-Schlodien as the Kaisers' aide was that the burden of the Kaiser's desire to daily discuss naval affairs could be shared with others.
