Post by Kim Sung » 13 Apr 2006, 16:01

Does any of you know who Vera Wang(王薇薇)'s grandfathers are? I've searched in Chinese search engines but couldn't find any data about them.

...She is a Chinese American raised in an affluent family and attended the The Chapin School as well as the Sorbonne in Paris. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with a degree in art history. Her mother often took her to fashion shows in Paris. Her father started and owned a chemical company. Her paternal grandfather was a military general in China. Her maternal grandfather was a warlord in China...

Îâ¿¡Éý

I'm still searching for the info on her paternal grandfather. At least I got that he used to be a general in Nationalist Army and finally came up as a Minister in ROC government.

I've found a Korean article on him.

http://www-2.knu.ac.kr/%7Echina/ch28/ch28-SongHY.hwp

the article Kim posted is talking about conflicts between Chinese warlords.

Wu Junsheng was born in a poor peasant family in Fengtien province (today Liaoning), on Nov 23 1863. He joined cavalry troop in 1880, crushed the Manchu independence plan (supported by Japanese ronins) in 1912. He supported Yuan Shikai's monarchy in 1915, and supported Zhang Zuolin to seize Manchuria. He died in 1928, in the assassination of Zhang Zuolin (he was on the same train).

Nice to meet you, toome. Then you are Vera Wang's distant newphew (or niece)?

I think so, I've never met her. She would be my Grandfather's Sister's Daughter. I knew of her mother, but I had never heard of her until these few webpages.

Vera Wang is a very famous person in the world, especially for her wedding dresses that Sharon Stone, Uma Thurman, Meg Ryan, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Victoria Beckam and Shim Un-Ha (심은하) wore. Her success seems to have originated from her noble lineage.
