Luftwaffe airfield at Brustem (sint-truiden), Belgium

Hi,
has anyone any information about this airfield, planes, pilots,...They held their barracks at Brustem-dorp 125, Sint-Truiden. The airshelter they've built is still there intact. Some fundaments of the barracks are retracable. If you want to, I can send pictures of these.

You had the SS-Wache St.-Truiden that was active on the airfield. The group was part of the Germaansche SS-Vlaanderen and was notorious for his actions against the resistance or terrorists. The SS-Wache was under supervision of SS-Untersturmführer Jan Morael and existed of two Züge.

I have a full page of details on Saint-Trond covering the May 40 - Sep 44 period under the Luftwaffe. I would be glad to provide it to you if you are still interested in the airfield and if you have any information and reports concerning the non-flying units that were there (Flak, Luftnachrichten, Horst units, Bau units, Nachschub units, etc.) and any reports on damage to the airfield caused by the numerous Allied bombing and strafing attacks. My information lists all of the flying units, most of the air attacks and many of the non-flying units.

I am most interested in flight data photos & archives relating to Lt Otto Fries, du II./NJG1) Messershmitt Bf 110 operation flown on night of 29 to 30 December 1943 whilst on a mission from Sint Truiden, patrolling his box.
The Armstrong Whitworth Lancaster Mk.II - DS834 (KO-F) departed Witchford 17.28h & was shot down 29.12.1943 at 22h16 on farmland " Nelehof " at Tungelroij, Limbourg, NL upon return flight path leg, some 175 miles South of it´s intended course to cross over Terschelling Island on return leg to Witchford.
Some references made to this incident in the book ¨UNDER A BOMBERS MOON¨ by author Stephen Harris & ¨Bombers over Berlin¨by author Alan W. Cooper (Pen & Sword UK Publication) but regrettably with many mistakes & incorrect information.

LANCASTER DOWNED = 4 crew killed, 2 POWS & 1 crew (my father) evaded capture. That is another book worth writing.???

I just found 2 pictures of Otto Fries in the book in dutch language "Vinnige Valken - Vlammende bilksems written by Christian Vanhee en Peter Celis.

Both man were transferred to Venlo (Netherlands) in the month of may 1944.
